CDS Monarch held a Grand Opening Ceremony for CDS Monarch Senior Living, on the morning of February 28th at 10am at the new facility located at 840 Holt Road Webster, NY 14580.

CDS Monarch was awarded 8.5 million dollars of funding for this project from NYS Housing Trust Fund Corporation, the HUD 202 Program, Federal Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program, and the Monroe County HOME Program.

Ground was broken for this new facility in April 2011, and now, just eleven months later, new residents have begun moving into CDS Monarch Senior Living!  “I am excited CDS Monarch Senior Living is now open and I welcome all of the residents to their new home,” stated Sankar Sewnauth, CDS Monarch President/CEO. “I am grateful to all of our partners for their roles  in helping to provide a place people where with disabilities can age in place with their peers in the community.”

CDS Monarch has set a new precedence in our community with this first of its kind senior living center.  The facility has 45 affordable apartments in a safe and comfortable environment that is inclusive of all seniors. Residents are offered opportunities for on-site socialization, entertainment and events. The new CDS Monarch Senior Living facility has affordable rental costs, immediate access to transportation through CDS Monarch and direct access to North Ponds Park.  Residents also have full access to the CDS Monarch Wolf Life Transitions Center which is less than a mile away and houses a therapeutic aquatics center, fitness center, restaurant, and several recreation therapies.

The project is made possible with the partnership of Rochester’s Cornerstone Group, Ltd., Cornerstone Housing Development Corporation, Lecesse Construction as general contractor, SWBR Architects as architect and Rochester Management Inc. as the management agent. All of us at CDS Monarch express our gratitude to our partners for their role to make this project a reality.

A number of community and statewide politicians and notable supporters were in attendance the morning of February 28th including: Maggie Brooks (Monroe County Executive), Dave Seeley (Representative to Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, Finger Lakes Region), Jean Lowe (President, Greater Rochester Housing Partnership), Leonard Skrill (Director, Upstate Capital Projects, NYS Division of Housing and Community Renewal, Buffalo Regional Office), Joan Spilman (Field Office Director, HUD), Roger W.
