On May 4th, the individuals in the day program expressed their gratitude to our Veterans in honor of National Military Appreciation Month through a concert they put together themselves. These individuals worked extremely hard at preparing a variety of patriotic songs to sing for our Veterans. Some of the songs included "The Army Goes Rolling Along," "God Bless America," and the National Anthem. They even worked together to rewrite the lyrics to Elvis Presley's "Hound Dog" and turned it into a song about America! Two individuals wrote poems that showed their appreciation for the military and America. While the folks in the day program put this concert together themselves, music therapist, Molly Pow, worked with them to make it a complete success.

After the concert, Mitchell presented a flag that was painted to the Veterans in Warrior Salute™ as a token of gratitude. Everyone joined together to sing "You're a Grand Old Flag" before dispersing. The individuals sang with enthusiasm and pride to honor their country, the Warrior Salute™ Veterans, and the entire military! "They help us a lot so we want to thank them," Chrissy, one of the individuals who participated in the concert, said. Amy also sang in the concert and said, "I enjoy singing and wanted to say thank you to the military."
We were happy to have some of the Veterans in Warrior Salute™ in the audience. Gary Belmont, a Warrior Salute™ Veteran, said, "It was an honor to know they took the time to put this concert together for us. It was inspiring."
Many families of the individuals came to watch, along with many CDS Monarch employees. Thank you to everyone who came and supported!
