Robert Van Velson (left) and program manager Tom Tartaglia

On the morning of April 9th, Warrior Salute™veteran Robert Van Velson graduated. Friends, staff, and fellow veterans held a ceremony for him, and Tom Tartaglia, program manager, presented him with his graduation certificate.

Robert served as a combat engineer in the Army, serving two tours in Afghanistan in 2006 and 2007 and going to Korea twice. He came to Warrior Salute™in December and was diagnosed as bi-polar. He engaged in various therapies provided by Warrior Salute™, including art therapy and prolonged exposure therapy. He's also been working at Lidestri Foods in Fairport for the past three months.

In just four months--earlier than expected--the clinical staff determined Robert was fit to graduate.

"I feel like it's time to get my own place," Robert said. "I landed a nice job. It's a great place to work."

Well done, Robert, and best of luck!
