Since its opening last July, the Nucor House has provided a place for Veterans to live while they are enrolled in Warrior Salute. But if you ask the Veterans who live there, they will tell you that it is more than just a house. It is their home.

The five Veterans currently residing in the Nucor House, spend a lot of their time together - supporting each other as they work to overcome personal challenges, but also celebrating successes and enjoying the camaraderie that comes with spending time together as fellow Service Members. At home, they have an opportunity to relax, shoot some pool, or go out for a movie. Many of them have evening activities that they attend regularly, such as equine therapy or ice skating.

There has also been an overwhelming amount of support from the community, which can be seen on the bulletin board full of letters, cards and drawings inside the front entrance of the house. Many volunteers have dedicated time and resources to the Veterans to help them out at the house. The Blue Star Mothers of Rochester have gone to the house to prepare Sunday Dinner for the Veterans on several occasions. On Saturday, April 20th, the MCC Veterans Club will be holding Operation Cleanup Outreach in order to get the house ready for the spring and summer seasons. The amount of community support shown at the Nucor House has been wonderful, and truly appreciated.
