"I am very grateful for The Wolf Foundation and the leadership of the Volunteer Committee for all the hard work they have put into organizing and running the event this year," stated Sankar Sewnauth, CDS Monarch President/CEO. "Unfunded recreational activities, like Special Olympics, continue to be successful at CDS Monarch because of the generosity of our community; our sponsors, donors and local businesses."
This event is open to the public, bringing together more than 250 people including CDS Monarch individuals and their families, staff, and members of the Greater Rochester community. At last year's event, The Wolf Foundation raised $25,000. This year, The Wolf Foundation plans to surpass that amount. The amount raised will benefit unfunded recreation, and health and wellness opportunities, such as the Special Olympics teams, for people supported by CDS Monarch. CDS Monarch has more than 100 athletes who participate actively in Special Olympics.
"This event means a lot to me, and to my brother Chuckie, who lives and works at CDS Monarch and is a member of the CDS Monarch Special Olympics team," said Margie Dell, Volunteer Committee Chair for the event. "I see the excitement not only on Chuckie's face, but also on the faces of his peers and teammates. The way they encourage and cheer each other on is heartwarming, and as family members we know how important these activities are to them. It is because of the contributions of sponsors and donors that these otherwise unfunded recreation activities for our loved ones can continue. Thank you to everyone who is supporting 'Strikes for Abilities' this year."
The event is set to take place at Clover Lanes, 2750 Monroe Ave., Rochester, NY. In-person registration begins at 1PM with bowling beginning at 2PM. Participants are invited to bowl by themselves or with a team of up to five people. Their registration includes two games, shoe rental, food and drinks.
